Port of Civitavecchia, also known as "Port of Rome", or Civitavecchia Port of Rome, is the seaport of Civitavecchia, Metropolitan City of Rome, Italy. It is an important hub for the maritime transport in Italy, for goods and passengers. The Rome Cruise Terminal is part of the port.
We boarded our ship Viking Saturn early and enjoyed our day on Board at the spa and a nice relaxing dinner with wine pairing after our 10 days of Rome and Cinque Terre.

Our first stop Naples Italy our sister town!!
Naples is the birthplace of pizza, so there's no better place to feast on the best pizza in the world than in one of the many landmark pizzerias in the historic center. The most famous are Sorbillo and da Michele, but there are endless options for sampling unforgettable “pizza napolitana”!

Next stop Messina Sicily
Messina is a harbor city in northeast Sicily, separated from mainland Italy by the Strait of Messina. It’s known for the Norman Messina Cathedral, with its Gothic portal, 15th-century windows and an astronomical clock on the bell tower. Nearby are marble fountains decorated with mythological figures, like the Fontana di Orione, with its carved inscriptions, and the Neptune Fountain, topped by a statue of the sea god.

Up next Valletta Malta
Valletta (or Il-Belt) is the tiny capital of the Mediterranean island nation of Malta. It’s known for museums, palaces and grand churches. Baroque landmarks include St. John’s Co-Cathedral, whose opulent interior is home to the Caravaggio masterpiece "The Beheading of Saint John."

Valletta might be one of the smallest European capitals, but it is packed with more historic sites than most—in fact, the whole city is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The walled city was established in the 1500s on a peninsula by the Knights of St. John, a Roman Catholic order and, incredibly, built in just 15 years.

Meanwhile on board our ship Viking Saturn we love “chefs table”
The Chef's Table is a specialty dining experience on Viking Ocean ships that offers a multi-course tasting menu with wine pairings.

After Malta we are off to Corfu Greece which will be up next on our blog.
