Alaska Facts:
Another travel day! 196 miles 5.5 hours today with pretty good road conditions.
We stopped at Delta Junction the very end of the Alaska Highway
At Historic Milepost 1422 stands the last town on the Alaska Highway, built during WWII to connect the contiguous United States with Alaska, and home to Ft. Greely, Alaska Missile Defense Command, and the Pogo Gold Mine. The City of Delta Junction is Alaska at its finest, located in the fertile Tanana River Valley and surrounded by 3 spectacular mountain ranges – the White Mountains to the north, the Granite Mountains to the southeast, and the Alaska Range to the southwest. To the west, the Delta River provides scenic adventure for site-seers and unrivaled opportunity for outdoor sports enthusiasts.
Also has the largest Mosquitos

Entering North Pole:
North Pole:
North Pole is a small Alaskan city, near Fairbanks. It's known for its year-round Christmas decorations, including candy cane–striped street lights. Santa Claus House is a Christmas store with walls covered in children’s letters to Santa and a huge Santa statue outside. Streets have names like Kris Kringle Drive and Mistletoe Lane.
Santa Clause house
The Santa Claus House is known for the world's largest fiberglass statue of Santa Claus outside. A small group of domesticated reindeer are just outside.
In 1944, Bon Davis homesteaded this area. Dahl and Gaske Development Company later bought the Davis homestead, subdivided it, and named it North Pole, hoping to attract a toy manufacturer who would advertise products as being made in North Pole.
Please take note:
What's Santa's real address?
123 Elf Road, North Pole, 88888
With the correct postal address: 123 Elf Road, North Pole, 88888. An official address means a quicker beeline to St. Nick, said Kim Frum, a spokeswoman for the Postal Service. 😀👍
Ahh!! Grocery shopping in Fairbanks then dinner back at our RV spot in North Pole😀I better get some Christmas lights
Our upcoming Agenda
The North Pole was one of the worst tourist traps we've ever seen. Do you think there was anything in there that wasn't made in China?!? Love the end of the Alaska Highway photo. Enjoy Alaska!
