Day 109 Holy Island /Lake Charlevoix MI
September 27, 2022
Rain stopped for a bit so it’s time to explore this area
From beaches to ferries, outdoor adventuring and rock hunting, mushroom houses, to downtown shopping and dining – “Charlevoix the Beautiful” is a Michigan destination you don't want to overlook.
Charlevoix is named after Fr. Pierre François Xavier de Charlevoix, a French explorer who traveled the Great Lakes and was said to have stayed the night on Fisherman's Island during a harsh storm. During this time, Native Americans were thought to have lived in the Pine River valley.
Checking out the town
I love these little side streets
“Our alleys are already hidden gems, but the re-imagined Hoop Skirt alley offers residents and visitors a more connected, artistic, walkable, and welcoming downtown space.”
A bit more history:
We are definitely near the end of the season. I can see this being totally packed during the summer.
Pretty windy out there today!
